If you’ve ever had a mint julep, then you know the lovely feeling this refreshing summer drink will give you. It’s perfect for summer days or when you are feeling like you need something a bit sweet.

I absolutely love a fresh and cool mint julep. Whether I enjoy it in the mornings on my terrace or simply on a hot summer afternoon. A mint julep is the perfect sweet treat. My absolute favorite mint julep is from Disneyland, so this one mimics the flavour of the disney mint julep closely.

Ingredients (1 pitcher)

  • 6 oz lemonade concentrate (thawed)
  • ¼ cup lime juice (bottled or freshly squeezed)
  • ½ cup homemade peppermint syrup (see below)
  • 5 tablespoons simple syrup (for sweetness that lingers)
  • 4–5 cups cold water
  • Plenty of ice
  • Freshly picked mint leaves, to garnish

Peppermint Syrup (Homemade Crème de Menthe–Style)

In a small saucepan, combine:

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1½ teaspoons peppermint extract

Warm gently until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool completely and store in the fridge. This syrup keeps well for 1–2 weeks and can be used in teas, lemonades, or as a dessert drizzle.

To Make:

  1. In a large glass pitcher, combine the lemonade concentrate, lime juice, peppermint syrup, and simple syrup.
  2. Add 4 to 5 cups of cold water, depending on how strong or sweet you prefer it.
  3. Stir gently and add a generous amount of ice.
  4. Taste and adjust for sweetness. Add more simple syrup if needed.
  5. Garnish with fresh mint only — no cherries, no extras. Simplicity is elegance.

Notes from My Table

I love to enjoy my mint julep under my shaded terrace with a nice view over the city. I also love to play some jazz music in the background while preparing and drinking my mint juleps. It’s become my signature drink because it’s sweet, a little tangy, but most importantly, refreshing.
